Cyclamen persicum, "mini" varieties, cultivated hybrid fresh seeds from my collection, hand pollinated.
Cyclamen persicum germination instruction.
Pre-treatment. Presoak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours or until they imbibe the water.
The germination process can be done in 2 ways.
1. Take a clear plastic airtight (food) container, put in a piece of paper towel and wet it with water using a sprayer or directly from the tap, drain excess water. Place the seeds on paper and close the container tight with a lid. Keep at room temperature ~18-22°C. Germination should occur in about 1 month.
Prepare the pot or seed tray with the compost for seeds and seedlings (optionally perlite, fine grit or coarse sand can be added). Wet the compost well. Place germinated seeds on the surface and cover with 0.5 cm of compost or grit spacing 3 cm in between and keep at the same temperature until the first leaves appear. When they grow big enough to handle repot into individual pots.
2. Prepare the pot or seed tray with the compost for seeds and seedlings. Wet the compost well. Sow the seeds on the surface spacing 2.5-3 cm in between and cover with 0.5 cm of the same medium or grit. Keep at the temperature 18-22°C in a well lit spot until the first leaves appear. Keep the soil moist and water when necessary. Once they grow big enough to handle repot into individual 8-10 cm pots.
